About & How It Works

Technical calculation logic, standards, and operational details

The Khmer Text Utilities suite offers deep linguistic analysis, character counting, and invisible character remediation for the Khmer script. Unlike languages with Latin typography that employ whitespace between every word, Khmer is written continuously without regular inter-word spaces. Instead, digital Khmer relies on the Zero-Width Space (ZWSP, U+200B) for line wrapping, search indexation, and word boundary identification.

Algorithmic Logic & Calculation

Our text engine categorizes Khmer Unicode sequences into base consonants (αž€-ធ), dependent vowels (αžŸαŸ’αžšαŸˆαž“αž·αžŸαŸ’αžŸαŸαž™), independent vowels (αžŸαŸ’αžšαŸˆαž–αŸαž‰αžαž½), subscripts (Coeng U+17D2 + consonant), and diacritical marks (αž”αž“αŸ’αžαž€αŸ‹, αžšαž”αžΆαž‘, αžŸαŸ†αž™αŸ„αž‚αžŸαž‰αŸ’αž‰αžΆ). It visualizes invisible ZWSP characters in red badges and lets you strip or normalize them with a single click.

Technical Standards & Compliance

Follows Unicode Standard Annex #29 (Unicode Text Segmentation) and ISO/IEC 10646 standards for Khmer script encoding.
